16 workers killed in explosion at Chinese mine

Sixteen workers at a Chinese coal mine have died after a gas explosion ripped through the facility while they were making safety improvements to the shaft and ventilation system.

15 workers died immediately in the blast in Jiangxi province and a 16th died later in hospital.
