The UN War Crimes Tribunal in Tanzania has adjourned the trial of a Rwandan army officer accused of masterminding genocide to allow the defence teams to receive key documents and witness statements.

The UN War Crimes Tribunal in Tanzania has adjourned the trial of a Rwandan army officer accused of masterminding genocide to allow the defence teams to receive key documents and witness statements.

The trial of Colonel Theoneste Bagosora and three military co-defendants opened in Arusha yesterday. However, the defence claimed they had not received French translations of the prosecution’s pre-trial brief and the report of the first witness, human rights activist Alison de Forge.
