Iran and Iraq call for oil to be used as Mideast weapon

Iraq and Iran today said oil should be used to put pressure on the US to force Israel out of Palestinian areas, but that all Muslim oil-producing countries needed to support the move.

Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states have resisted such calls in the past, and Indonesia said today that getting the consensus needed would be ‘‘quite impossible.’’
