Three killed as boat capsizes in Congo

At least three children have been killed and dozens more are feared dead after a boat capsized in Lake Kivu in eastern Congo today.

The boat overturned when scores of passengers rushed on board as it docked at Ijwi Island, around 12 miles from Goma.

The bodies of three children were pulled from the vessel and divers said dozens more are trapped in the cabin of the boat.

The children were aged between six months and 10 years. 72 people were rescued from the water.
