One person has been killed and 13 others injured in a rifle-propelled grenade attack, in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Police say the attackers fired the grenade at a Border Security Force bunker.

However, it missed its target and exploded on a busy road in central Srinagar.

Inspector Chandan Singh, says the person killed was a civilian.

Nine others and four BSF troopers were injured in the blast. It was the second grenade attack in two days.

The identity of the assailants was not immediately known. But security forces blamed Islamic militants for the violence.

Muslim rebels have been fighting Indian security forces since 1989 for independence or a merger with Pakistan.
