Suicide bomb attack on Jerusalem shopping street

An explosion, apparently caused by a suicide bomber, has rocked the centre of Jerusalem and police said there were casualties.

The blast went off around 4:25 pm (1425 Irish Time) along King George Street in the main shopping area.

‘‘I can see people lying on the ground here but I don’t know their condition,’’ said an Israeli army radio reporter.

The blast was near the site of several other recent shooting and bombing attacks, police said.
