Several injured in Israel bus explosion

Several people have been injured in an explosion on a bus in northern Israel, radio stations reported.

Ambulances were rushing to the scene and it appeared there were several injuries, witnesses said.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear although Israeli security has been on high alert for attacks by Palestinian militants.

A witness calling himself Danny who was travelling in a car behind the bus when it exploded said he saw ‘‘a lot of blood’’.

‘‘We’re talking about a very grave attack,’’ Danny said, adding that he did not know what caused the explosion.

Israel radio said a suicide bomber had detonated a device in the centre of the bus.
