Nuclear scientists set to work on ‘bunker-buster’ bomb

American nuclear scientists have been ordered to produce a ‘‘bunker-busting’’ bomb designed to destroy the deepest underground hiding places, it was reported today.

Work is to begin next month on a missile which would dig up to 300ft into the earth before unleashing its nuclear payload.
