Woman begins life sentence for murdering children

Andrea Yates is beginning her life sentence today after being found guilty of murdering her five children.

The housewife’s life was spared by a Texas jury and she escaped the death penalty for the killings.

Her defence claimed she was insane.

Mrs Yates will have to serve at least 40 years before she is eligible for parole.
