Amsterdam hostage siege over

Police in the Netherlands have said a hostage siege at Amsterdam’s tallest building has ended.

However, a spokesman refused to say if police had shot the gunman who took an unknown number of people hostage earlier today.

The man walked into the 35-storey Rembrandt Tower when it opened for business this morning. He later freed six women during more than three hours of negotiations with police.

His motives are still unknown.
