At least 20 people are now known to have died after a five-storey building collapsed in Egypt last night.

Rescuers searching for survivors at the site in Damietta, north of Cairo, have retrieved 20 bodies so far and the search is continuing. 15 people were injured in the incident.

Several brides and grooms were reportedly in the building when it came down.

It is also not clear how many people were in the building at the time or what caused the collapse.

Building collapses are not uncommon in Egypt and are often blamed on shoddy construction or the unauthorised addition of extra storeys.
