Opposition leader declares himself Madagascar President

Madagascar’s opposition leader, Marc Ravalomanana, has declared himself president during a massive rally in the capital, Antananarivo, today.

A magistrate administered the oath of office in front of 100,000 cheering supporters, who believe Mr Ravalomanana won the December 16 presidential election with more than 50% of the vote.
