Challenge over foot-and-mouth inquiry decision

The British government’s decision not to hold a public inquiry into last year’s foot-and-mouth crisis was being challenged in a judicial review beginning in the High Court today.

Many in the farming and wider community are angry with alternatives, announced last August, which they say fall short of what is needed if lessons are to be learned from the crisis.
