Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic went on trial today before a United Nations tribunal, accused of genocide in the Balkans.

Milosevic looked calm and glanced around the courtroom in The Hague as the court registrar opened the historic proceedings by reading the case number: IT0254T.
