The 57-year-old man ate a large meal and drank a bottle of wine in the restaurant in Temuco before leaving.
Police say a waiter found him sleeping rough after he'd finished his shift and stabbed him to death. He's been charged with murder.
Police say the 39-year-old stabbed his victim several times while he slept in an abandoned house, according to reports.
