At least three killed in Afghan avalanche

At least three people have died after they were trapped in a tunnel following an avalanche in northern Afghanistan, according to the UN.

Around 100 people were trapped in yesterday’s avalanche at the Salang Tunnel, 80 miles north of Kabul.

Rescue workers are struggling to reach people in around 20 to 40 cars which are still trapped under the snow.

Freezing temperatures and strong winds are hampering rescue efforts.
