A newspaper editor and columnist in a major town in Colombia’s coffee-growing region died yesterday, two days after being shot in the head as he walked to his office.

Orlando Sierra, of La Patria newspaper in Manizales, died in the hospital where he had been in critical condition since he was shot on Wednesday, said fellow editor Fernando Ramirez.
