Suicide bomber kills policeman in north-west China
A suicide bomber has killed himself and a police officer in a department store in north-west China.
Two other police officers were also injured in the bombing in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang region.
The official Xinhua news agency said the attacker was a migrant worker angry over a pay dispute.
Xinjiang has suffered a number of bombings in recent years, most of them blamed on Muslim rebels fighting for independence in the predominantly Muslim region.
However, there was no indication that today’s blast was linked to the separatists.
