30 die in plane crash
A military plane crashed near Luena in southeastern Angola today killing 30 people, a Portuguese radio station reported.
An unknown number of survivors were treated at a hospital and rescue teams were still searching the plane’s wreckage for bodies, according to state-owned Radio Difucao.
The accident occurred near the city of Leuna, 500 miles southeast of the capital, Luanda.
The Antonov-12 plane developed technical problems and called Luena air traffic control just before it crashed, according to an Angolan air force spokesman.
The victims were not identified.
