A UN police officer in Kosovo has been arrested in connection with the death of an Albanian woman near Pristina.

A UN police officer in Kosovo has been arrested in connection with the death of an Albanian woman near Pristina.

Police were called to the officer's apartment in Pec, 90 kilometres west of Pristina, after people nearby heard shots.

They found a 23-year-old ethnic Albanian woman with serious injuries.

The 32-year-old police officer had bullet wounds in an arm and his head.

Both were taken to a hospital, where the woman died.

Police are still investigating the shooting but believe no others were involved.

Spokesman Derek Chappell declined to give the officer's identity or comment on a motive.
