Former Taliban ambassador arrested

The United States has confirmed that the Taliban’s former Ambassador to Pakistan, Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, has been handed over and is in the custody of US officials in Afghanistan.

Mullah Zaeef, who became the Taliban’s only contact with the outside world during the early stages of the war in Afghanistan, was arrested in Pakistan last week.
