Three injured as soldiers resume firing in Kashmir

Three civilians have been injured after Indian and Pakistani soldiers resumed sporadic firing across the border.

The Indian army says the injured people included a child on its side.

It says two men were hurt when a house was hit by Pakistani soldiers.

Pakistani soldiers fired rockets and mortar shells across the Line of Control, which serves as an international border separating the two countries.

Indian soldiers have retaliated by shelling the Pakistani side of the border and destroying at least eight Pakistani army bunkers, the spokesman says.

The exchange of fire between the two sides had been intense along a six-mile stretch including the Pindi, Khari and Sokar sectors of Poonch, he said.

Most villagers fled the area some days ago.
