Jamaica reports new murder record

Jamaica reported a record 1,135 murders this year, fuelled by drug trafficking and gang violence, police say.

The toll is a 28% increase over 2000's 887 killings. The former record in the Caribbean country of 2.6 million people was 1,038 murders in 1997.
