Bush fires continue to rage in Australia
Lightning strikes and the return of hot, dry winds have whipped up the bush fires in Eastern Australia.
Officials say that more than 100 blazes are raging across New South Wales, half of them lit deliberately.
About 150 homes have been destroyed while thick smoke is continuing to choke Sydney.
Fires are also raging near the Australian capital, Canberra.
Despite the destruction officials have said the New Year’s fireworks display in Sydney harbour will go ahead as planned.
