India has evacuated 5,000 people from 17 more villages along the Kashmir ceasefire line as it moves closer to fighting another war with its old enemy, Pakistan.

Fourteen villages with 10,000 inhabitants were evacuated earlier after both sides traded shells and gunfire along the line dividing the disputed Himalayan province.
