Four killed in Russian mine accident
Four miners have been killed in a rock collapse in a coal mine in the Kuzbass region of Siberia.
A methane explosion ripped through a chamber of the Voroshilov mine in the town of Prokopyevsk, about 1,875 miles east of Moscow.
Shortly after rescuers arrived, the ceiling of the chamber collapsed. Two others sustained burns and there were several injuries.
Regional governor Aman Tuleyev has ordered an end to blasting works in the mines to prevent further accidents.
The ITAR-Tass news agency claims 61 coal miners were killed in the region in 2001.
