Ali agrees to make TV message for Muslim countries

Muhammad Ali has agreed to record a public service announcement about America's tolerance of Islam.

Producers want him to say the action against terrorism is not a war against the faith.

The 60-second message will be broadcast in Muslim countries.

He has agreed in principle to take part in the television announcement, reports claim.

It is being produced by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

The organisation is part of the Hollywood 9/11 entertainment steering group, formed after the terrorist attacks.

MPAA president, Jack Valenti, said: "Ali will hopefully be able to convey the idea that Muslims in America lead a free life and practise their religion in a form they choose."
