Police are appealing for witnesses to the murder of a 90-year-old widow stabbed to death before her heart was cut out.

North Wales Police released the details as they renewed appeals one month after the death of Mabel Leyshon in her Anglesea home.

Det Supt Alan Jones, leading the murder hunt, said Ms Leyshon's heart was found in a separate room from her body.

The killer had placed a homemade cross next to her.

Mr Jones said the heart was so skillfully removed that the killer may have had medical training.

He added that the killer was also likely to suffer from mental health problems.

He said no other organs were removed and denied any link to witchcraft.
