Terror attack 'targeted top politicians'

The five men who attacked India’s parliament last week meant to wipe out the country’s top politicians, home minister Lal K Advani said today.

In the first extensive address to the nation since last Thursday’s attack in which eight people were killed, Advani told the parliament in New Delhi that if security officers had been unable to keep the attackers out of the building, ‘‘it could have been an utter catastrophe’’.
