Britain prepares to lead Afghan peace force

British Prime Minister Tony Blair says Britain is prepared "in principle" to lead an international stabilisation force in Afghanistan.

He says the British contingent is likely to be between 1,000 and 1,500 troops, although the figures have not been finalised.
