Colombian plane crash claims 16 lives

Three children were among the 16 people killed when a small plane crashed in Colombia.

The plane crashed in heavy rain into the mountains outside the Colombian city of Medellin.

The Czech made Laet-410 Turboprop belonging to Colombia’s Heliandes Airline crashed three minutes after taking off from Medellin airport.

The plane - with 14 passengers and two crew members on board - was heading to Quibdo, the capital of northern Choco state.
