US marine seriously injured in mine explosion

A US marine is reported to be seriously injured after an explosion which happened earlier at the airport of the southern Afghan city of Kandahar.

The marines were clearing mines at the time of the explosion, one of their main objectives since taking over the airport earlier in the week.
