US troops secure Kandahar Airport

The Pentagon is convinced that they have Osama bin Laden pinned down.

Military chiefs believe he is still in Afghanistan and is in fact hiding in the caves of the Toro Boro range, which they are now pounding with bombs.

Kandahar Airport has been taken overnight by the US Marines.

Meanwhile, senior military officials are meeting in London later to discuss the formation of an international military ‘stabilisation’ force for Afghanistan.
