Four white racists received lengthy jail sentences in South Africa today after being convicted of murdering two blacks in the central farming town of Parys.

Four white racists received lengthy jail sentences in South Africa today after being convicted of murdering two blacks in the central farming town of Parys.

Three of the men, 19-year-old Johannes Smith, 20-year-old Andries Viljoen and 21-year-old Wetzue Botes, were jailed for 20 years each for killing 62-year-old Tshekiso Lebatla and 56-year-old Andries Songelwa, who was disabled.

A 26-year-old former policeman, Eben Kruger, was jailed for 17 years for participating in the attack on Mr Songelwa.

The judge described the murders as brutal and racist.
