Roy Whiting found guilty of murdering Sarah Payne

A jury at Britain's Lewes Crown Court has found Roy Whiting guilty of the murder of eight-year-old Sarah Payne.

The 42-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of abducting and murdering Sarah Payne last year.

The jury took nine hours to reach a unanimous verdict against Roy Whiting.

Sarah Payne was abducted in West Sussex on July 1st last year. Her body was found in a shallow grave 16 days later.

As soon as the verdict was declared today, the court heard details of Whiting’s previous conviction for kidnapping and indecently assaulting a nine-year-old girl in 1995.
