Edward spends two hours at Sophie's bedside

Prince Edward has visited his wife in hospital for two hours.

He says Sophie is feeling tired but recovering gradually.

She is expected to be in hospital for at least another day or two.

The Earl spoke briefly to reporters waiting outside the King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone before he left.

He refused to discuss speculation that Sophie had not known she was pregnant before the emergency.

He said it was an entirely personal matter and that he had given the press all the information they wanted.

He said: "Thank you for your continued concern. I will be keeping in touch and visiting as often as I can."

When asked if any other Royals would be visiting, he said: "Not that I am aware of."
