US homeland security chief Tom Ridge has put police forces throughout the USA on their highest state of alert following what he said was a renewed terrorist threat.

US homeland security chief Tom Ridge has put police forces throughout the USA on their highest state of alert following what he said was a renewed terrorist threat.

Mr Ridge said intelligence agencies have detected a threat to the US, but he gave no information about what might happen or where it might happen.
