Iraq has threatened to fire missiles at Israel if America attacks it.

Iraqi Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan also warns his country will fight any US military strikes.

He adds Iraq expects the US to attack and described ongoing sanctions as being "comprehensive and devastating".

The Hindustan Times quotes him speaking to Qatar television channel Al-Jazeera about George W Bush's comments that Iraq should allow UN weapons inspectors back in.

"Any unjust aggression to be carried out by the American administration will bring evil consequences on America," he said.

He adds a threats of a US attack are not anything new.

"The aggression is going on, the blockade is comprehensive and devastating," he said, referring to the UN sanctions imposed since Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990.
