Amnesty urges Spain to stand by extradition ban

Amnesty International today urged Spain to set an example for other countries by standing by its refusal to extradite suspected al-Qaida members to the United States if they face execution or military trial.

Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar appeared to soften Spain’s position when he had talks with President George Bush in the White House yesterday.
