Eight killed in Kashmir guerrilla ambush

Islamic guerrillas ambushed a paramilitary patrol truck and killed seven soldiers in strife-torn Jammu-Kashmir, and lost one of their own when the troops fired back, officials said today.

The rebels, believed to be members of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayyaba group, fired from a house as a patrol of the Border Security Force (BSF) drove by, killing three soldiers in Achhibal, 36 miles north of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu-Kashmir state.
