130 arrested world-wide in paedophile crackdown

Seven people have been arrested in the UK as part of the world's largest police crackdown on paedophiles.

The National Crime Squad says the suspects were arrested in dawn raids.

Police in 19 countries executed 130 arrest and search warrants in an unprecedented operation targeting internet users.

The arrests are the culmination of a 10-month investigation, code-named Landmark.

Police have sifted through data from about 1,500 internet newsgroups.

More arrests in the UK may follow, an NCS spokeswoman said.
