Indian forces kill 12 suspected Islamic guerillas

Indian border security forces have killed at least 12 suspected Islamic guerillas trying to enter disputed Kashmir territory.

The guerillas were killed in two separate shootouts in the Ramgarh sector, about 30 miles south west of Jammu.

The police control room in Jammu said eight of them, killed in the first shootout, have been identified as Bangladeshi nationals.

The identity of the four militants killed in the second shootout is not yet known.

India alleges that there are several training camps in the Pakistan-occupied part of Kashmir where militants are trained in guerrilla warfare and then sent over to the Indian side with the help of the Pakistani military.
