Kosovo goes to the polls
Elections are taking place in Kosovo today, the first since the war in 1999.
Early indications are that voter turnout will be high, especially among ethnic Albanians who form an overwhelming majority in the southern Yugoslav province.
However, the few minority Serbs that are going to the polls fear their safety despite international peacekeepers being brought in to assure the prevention of voter intimidation.
The elections are being held for a 120-seat national assembly which will then choose a president and form a government.
