Taliban still in control in Kandahar

A local Pashtun tribal leader has confirmed that the Taliban are still in control of the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, the spiritual homeland of the movement.

A spokesman for the local warlord said around 70% of the Taliban’s commanders have chosen to follow Mullah Mohammed Omar’s call to keep fighting, while 30% don’t want to fight.
