Data from the black box recorder in the American Airlines plane which crashed in New York this week seems to support the theory that the plane encountered wake turbulence before plummeting to the ground.

The Airbus A300 apparently twice ran into tornado-like turbulence left by a Japan Airlines jumbo jet which had used the same flight path just minutes before the crash.
