British Marines land at Afghan airport

British Royal Marines have landed at Bagram airport, north of the Afghanistan capital Kabul, to clear a path for a humanitarian mission into the region, senior defence sources said tonight.

Up to 100 members of 45 Royal Marines Commando touched down at noon Irish Time, said the sources.
