Local factions begin seizing Afghan territory

Afghanistan’s Taliban Government has reportedly lost control of the eastern city of Jalalabad and the southern city of Kandahar after local tribesmen rose up against the crumbling regime.

In Jalalabad, the Taliban handed control of the city to a veteran Afghan warlord who has not allied himself with the Northern Alliance.
