New York firefighters to attend fundraiser

A group of New York firefighters was today due to attend a fundraising event for the families of colleagues lost or injured in the terror attacks of September 11.

Fire Commissioner Thomas Von Essen was due to accept an award at London’s Claridges recognising the bravery and dedication of the Fire Department of New York in their efforts to rescue the victims at the World Trade Centre, at a terrible loss of more than 300 firefighters.
