Nigerian soldier kills seven Muslim worshippers
A soldier from the Nigerian army has killed seven people in an attack on Muslim worshippers near the army barracks in Kaduna state.
Local newspapers reported that the soldier was attempting to enforce a state ban on open-air religious gatherings, which was imposed to reduce religious tensions following the introduction of Islamic law in the state.
News reports said a Muslim cleric ignored the soldier when he asked him to stop preaching so the solider, who was reportedly drunk, opened fire. State authorities said he was arrested immediately.
