Six critical after Corus blast

British surgeons are working round the clock to save steelworkers injured in the Port Talbot explosion.

Six men are on life support machines.

The teams are likely to be operating until Monday at Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

Thirteen workers were taken to hospital after an explosion ripped through blast furnace number five at the Corus plant.

Two men, Stephen Galsworthy, 26, and Andrew Hutin, 20, both of Port Talbot, died.

Malcolm Thomas, assistant general manager for acute services at Morriston Hospital, says surgeons are still working around the clock to save lives.

Four men are in the unit's dependency ward and another two are on general wards in the hospital.

One man is due to be discharged later today.
